D6 Diesel
D6 Diesel
Also known as Bunker Fuel Oil, it has a high viscosity. This particular fuel oil requires preheating to 220-260 degrees Fahrenheit. D6 is mostly used for generators. It is a type of residual fuel that is mainly used in power plants and larger ships. It must be preheated before using fuel
Recent changes in fuel quality regulation now require further refining of the D6 to remove sulfur, leading to higher costs. Despite this recent change, D6 is still less used due to its viscosity as well as the need to preheat and contain large amounts of contaminants such as sulfur. Because it requires preheating, it cannot be used on small ships or boats or cars. However, large ships and power plants can use the remaining fuel oil
The price of D6 diesel regullary rises in the colder months as demand for heating oil increases, which is refined in much the same way. In many parts of the United States and across the UK and Australia, D6 diesel prices may be higher than petrol.
The European Union has in recent years imposed rules and restrictions on the amount of pollutants in diesel, such as gasoline. The first law was passed in Euro 1 in 1993 and the most recent was Euro 6 in 2015. Pollution standards basically define the permissible level of emissions of new vehicles sold in EU countries.
Emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOX), hydrocarbons (THC), methane-free hydrocarbons (NMHC), carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter (PM) are included in these standards. Quality diesel must have a high cetane number and meet the latest Euro emission standards. In the presence of pollutants in diesel, the resulting smoke is spread in the environment and endangers human health and the environment.
Since diesel is a product with a relatively high density and viscosity, special arrangements must be made in the stages of transmission, distribution and operation so that the fuel used is of the required quality and its transfer and distribution processes are well done.
